Laura Miller, President, AKA Chief Cook and Bottle Washer Started the store in 2001 inspired after working in the public school system for several years to help make learning more fun for all kids. The true inspiration for the store has always been her daughter, Jennifer. Jenn, born in 1989, has cerebral palsy and developmental disabilities. Laura’s quest to find educational toys and tools for Jenn cemented the foundational idea that all children should think “learning is cool” . In addition to working for SAU 53, prior to opening the store, she served as the Information and Referral Coordinator for the Alliance for Assistive Technology and Program Director for ASSETT, serving individuals of all ages who experience disability lead more independent lives. Imagination Village, Inc offers an awesome way to combine all of these experiences in helping kids– and WE get to Play! In her spare time ( HA HA) Laura likes to read and go to the beach. She has dreams of having a garden again someday. Her next big goal is to write her book– a collection of stories about special education from the mom’s point of view. |
